CONNECTICUT SPECIAL OLYMPICS
SUMMER GAMES

A yearly project showcasing some of our state’s finest special olympic athletes.

This project was a collaboration between Connecticut Special Olympics and the New Haven Register.

EVERYONE DESERVES TO SHOW OFF THEIR SKILL, and our local Connecticut athletes do just that. Every summer for 3 consecutive days our local Special Olympic athletes compete for the win. Each summer kickoff starts with a parade of athletes, the ceremonial lighting of the Special Olympics Flame and the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Cheering crowds fill the stands from all over Connecticut. Either cheering on their own family athlete or the numerous volunteers that make the Summer Games happen. From 2014 through 2018 I had the privilege of working with Debbie Horne from Connecticut Special Olympics on their Summer Games program distributed in conjunction with the New Haven Register.
